Dr. APOSTOLOS G. KATSAFADOS

SHORT BIO

From a young age, Dr. Apostolos G. Katsafados knew he was destined to become an educator—a decision he has never regretted. As a passionate and dedicated Finance Professor, he finds no greater purpose than sharing his love of learning with his students. He has taught a range of undergraduate courses—such as Introduction to Economics, Investment Evaluation, Portfolio Analysis and Management, Corporate Finance, and Business Economics—at both the Athens University of Economics and Business and the University of West Attica, consistently earning strong evaluations for his teaching.

Also, by inspiring students, he is equally committed to advancing the field of finance through high-quality research. He actively contributes to the scientific community by producing original research published in top-tier academic journals. His recent publications include articles in the European Journal of Operational Research, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Finance Research Letters, Manchester School, Journal of Economic Studies, and the Journal of Financial Data Science.

His academic standing is further reflected in his role as a peer reviewer for several top-tier scholarly journals. He has served as an ad hoc referee for the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Forecasting, Finance Research Letters, Applied Economics, Economic Modelling, Journal of Economic Studies, and the Journal of Accounting and Taxation, often being invited to review multiple times by several of these journals.

Since 2021, he has been serving as a Research Economist at the Central Bank of Greece (Statistics Division). He is one of the two principal developers of the formal statistical model for credit evaluation in Greece (Greek ICAS), which has been approved by the European Central Bank (ECB). In parallel, he also served as an adviser to the Deputy Governor of the Bank on these issues.

Finally, he served as a counselor to the Bodossaki Foundation in 2017, and his research has been recognized with awards from both the Onassis Foundation and the State Scholarships Foundation.
